Abstract

Bullying behavior in schools remains a social issue that significantly affects students’ psychological, social, and academic development. This study aims to analyze the role of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in preventing bullying behavior through strengthening religious values, character building, and humanistic educational approaches within the school environment. The study employed a qualitative approach with a case study design to gain an in-depth understanding of the strategies implemented by PAI teachers in creating a safe and inclusive school culture. Data sources were obtained from PAI teachers, school principals, homeroom teachers, and students through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation techniques. Data analysis was conducted using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña, including data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings revealed that PAI teachers play a strategic role in instilling empathy, tolerance, moral values (akhlakul karimah), and students’ awareness regarding the negative impacts of bullying. Preventive efforts were implemented through religious habituation, exemplary behavior, persuasive communication, religious activities, and strengthening character education in daily school activities. Furthermore, collaboration among PAI teachers, counseling teachers, homeroom teachers, and parents was identified as an important factor in supervising and guiding students’ behavior continuously. This study concludes that optimizing the role of PAI teachers through religious, humanistic, and collaborative approaches can serve as an effective strategy in creating a safe, conducive, and bullying-free school environment.
